Default Cross Country trip last week

On Wednesday, Sept 21st, I departed NY in my Skyhawk on a cross country
business/pleasure trip. I departed Montgomery, NY (MGJ)at 8:30 am and
touched down in Murfreesboro , TN (MBT) at 3 PM Central, 7.5 hrs later.
I refueled at Frederick, MD and again at Pike County, Kentucky (PBX).
The entire flight was in gorgeous VFR.

On Thursday, I hopped down to Atlanta's Peachtree Dekalb (PDK) for a
conference of aerial photographers. Only about 1.8 hrs against a stiff
headwind.

Yesterday (Sunday 25th) returned to NY. It was solid IFR for the first
2 legs . . . departed PDK at 9:15 am, and stopped in North Wilksboro
(UKF). Flew the ILS to minimums (to me, still one of the greatest
rushes in flying). Second fuel stop was in Upshur County, West
Virginia (W22) VOR-A approach. Final leg home was barely VFR in
severe haze but I touched down at home at 6 PM. A long, but satisfying
day.

Fuel prices: FDK: $4.02
PBX: $3.45
MBT: $4.22
PDK: $4.90
UKF: $3.70
W22: $3.90

Logged 15.2 hrs total for the trip. One lesson learned:

Never count on FBOs to have charts or Internet access. Many do not,
and even with an IFR rating, without charts, it is useless.
