I might be flying to Millvile (KMIV) in the near future. I have never
landed at a field with an FSS before and I have never really understood the process. With the changes that have taken place over the past several years, I'm even more confused and would appreciate some guidance. I don't believe that there is an FSS on the field any longer, but there apparently is still an FSS. I have seen references to an FSS frequency for Millville (122.2). I have also seen the CTAF (123.65) refered to as an FSS tie-in. I don't know what that implies. Bottom line is that I don't know who to contact and how to refer to them. Should I be calling the CTAF and refering to them as Millville Radio or call the CTAF and treat it as any other CTAF and simply self announce? Or should I be calling the FSS frequency and then who would I get? Any help in keeping me (and others) safe and helping me avoid embarrassent will be appreciated. RNR |
