Just got this email, will try to find out what the width of the runway
is. It's good news for those of us that sometimes cross Death Valley to get to the Sierra or Inyos. Jim Jim, We recently lengthened and widened the Darwin airport (about 40 miles east of lone pine). It is now a good land out strip for glider pilots. These are the coordinates wikipedia gives for the town; 36°16′05″N 117°35′30″W. The runway is approximately 2000' long and pretty wide. Let people in the sport know if you could. Thanks. -Judd |
