A lot of SoCal folks are using the MicroTrak http://www.byonics.com/mt-rtg
I just used mine for the first time on Saturday. I added a second aircraft to my SSA tracking page for the APRS (can't currently have both SPOT and APRS as a single line.

Its interesting that coverage out west say around the lower Sierras/
Inyokern valley may be much better with APRS than ADS-B ground
stations. We'll have to see. And APRS actually works today.


Visit http://aprs.fi and center on the Owens Valley any weekend and you'll see a few of us up there.
