![]() You are correct that you want AA cells, not a rechargable. I owned a Sporty's but didn't like it, the buttons especially. I eBayed it and got a Vertex (then Yaseu). However, my handheld is my primary radio, and the AA power of the Sporty's was a real problem. It just ate batteries. Also, I had no need for the nav feature.
