Shawbury is the home of the Defence Helicopter Flying School which trains
rotary pilots for all arms of the forces. It is also a large training base
for air traffic controllers, a maintainance facility for helicopters and
other things too. But my visit was to the hangars for a look at the dozens
of aircraft in storage. Some of these are scrap, some are to be sold and
some are just being rotated through the fleet. The official site is
