A simple Flight to ACY
Hello fellow flyers,
My apologies in advance if this is boring. This is my very first attempt at making a video of any kind. Give it a look and all comments are welcome. BTW, I already know I didn't hold the centerline on lift-off (embarrassed look). ALieb noticed that right away. I had a slight distraction with the camera. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwaWXc2vv6o Kobra |

My own is handwritten, with additions to it. For example, the landing checklist has 'do minor clearing turns near airport' and 'check gear down' is on it a half dozen times, including 'on short final, check gear down, dammit!" (No, I never have landed with the gear up, and don't intend to) Great video, with a minor question. Did you play your landing close to the numbers, or so that you'd have minimal taxiing to the FBO? FWIW I aim for a bit over a thousand feet from the turnoff I want, rather than the numbers. A perfect landing means not having to add much throttle or do much breaking to make the turnoff. I didn't intend to go flying today, now I have to. You're a bad influence! |

Do you normally leave your hangar door open when you leave the airport? That's what it looked like. And, while taxing I didn't see ground leaning. It may just have been how you put the clips together. I grew up with a father that love to take 8mm movies. But he would have pile in the car and depart while my sister and I would be hanging out the window waiving. Then we would have to go back and pick him up. But, in the end, when he spliced this all together, it was a nice movie. Ahh, now we have digital cameras and software to do all of this. -- Regards, Ross C-172F 180HP KSWI |

I noticed you used the published check list. My own is handwritten, with additions to it. Not published...I made that on MS Word and made additons as well. Some I need a Chocks Removed?! Vent Window Closed? Lean for Taxi ANR Headset turned on? Great video, with a minor question. Did you play your landing close to the numbers, or so that you'd have minimal taxiing to the FBO? Nah, I aimed for the Touch Down Zone markers. The taxiway was about 5 or 6 hundred feet after that. I agree with you though, I try to land long at some airports to avoid a lengthy taxi to the ramp. I didn't intend to go flying today, now I have to. You're a bad influence! [add understanding smirk and nod] Kobra |
