What is hanging down? A muffler? Never saw that on any Cardinals I flew.

It does look like a muffler. Here's another angle.

It's a powerflow exhaust system. They claim 25-30 HP. I've installed 4 for
owners who just had to have them. 2 Cherokee 140's, a Cardinal, and a 172.
Flew them all before and after. Did they make a difference? Yes, lightened
their wallet $4500 + install, added 25-50 RPM static, and makes a nice
splattery buzzy exhaust tone. It's funny, owners of the lowest HP
airplanes will spend the most money on speed mods and crap like this! Oh
well, I make money on it so I can't complain much!

At that price it should be dual exhaust with Laker Pipes. G
