Hi Folks
I have XC-Soar running on my new HP314 and it is good. I have increased the font size on the info boxes to 60pt and they are very readable. Screen is bright and easy to see in all conditions except when the unit is aligned so that the sun reflects directly off it into your eyes. In fact I think it has an amazing tolerance to viewing angles and ambient light. I have got the UK maps on with UK airspace and turnpoints and although I haven't flown with it yet, using it in the car with built in GPS is very promising. Have purchased a li-ion booster battery and will let you know how that goes. Problem now is the serial / bluetooth. I have bought an Aircable Mini Bluetooth plug which is a doddle to set up to work with my Garmin / LX and will happily send NMEA sentences to my laptop bluetooth. But how to set up the 314 to connect and receive these into XC-Soar?? I haven't been able to get it going yet. If anyone knows the answer please help. Jim |

Jim Hi Jim I am using a KT6B Bluetooth adaptor on my 302 and setting for the 314 is Com6 4800bd. it works quite well as it is specially adapted for gliding. it is also powered by the 302. I am flying with the 314 at present and find the same that direct sunlight washes out the screen but in the (shade) it is superior to the other Ipaqs. Bruno |

Have you noticed any problems with the snail trail on the 31x ipaq?
Sort of green rays spreading around, while flying and even while driving or replaying a flight log. Which XSoar version are you using right now? I'm working on making the side scroll wheel working for zoom in the main map window but can't get to fix the snail trail so far. paolo ha scritto nel messaggio ... Scroll wheel zoom would be good. I also notice that the snail turns on even when set off in the config. It can however be turned off using the display menu. I will try com6 and see what I get. I did ask HP which ports were used on web chat but they said 'sorry, 3rd party sw not supported, foad!" No wonder they cannot compete in this market! Jim |

When I have everything going nicely I'll write a 'how I dun it' and publish through this forum. Jim ps: I think HP may have already 'discontinued' the product. Maybe PR should snap up the last 1000 units? |

I have a 3400mah Li-ion booster battery pack and have rigged up a cable with two resistor bridges to supply +3v to the data pins on the mini usb. HP314 now charges properly from the pack and I should get about 7 hrs out of it. Bluetooth works great on com 6 with feed from my LX through an Airplug Mini BT adaptor at 4800 baud. Now....does anyone know how to write script for Windows CE that can be started at boot to set the power and backlight settings to always on, turn the bluetooth on, and launch XCS? That would save some fiddling and reduce errors. Some of this may be possible in the registry and ini files?? Tx Jim |

Start-Settings-Control-Panel-display-backlight uncheck all Start-Settings-Control-Panel-Power- set both schemes to all never These settings will be save in the registry automatially. Just a note Craggy Aero has had the 310/314 power cable available for the Ipaq 310/314 for about 2 months. http://www.craggyaero.com/pdam.htm Richard www.craggyaero.com |

Do you know how to make them stick? So far I reckon simplest is a script. Jim |

I am running SeeYou Mobile from the SD Card. Maybe something in their setup from the card saves the settings. Richard www.craggyaero.com |
