I've seen several of these on static display at air shows since the fall
of the Iron Curtain, but have never seen one in motion. I have a notion it is a sight to be seen. -- unclemilty aka Dad; aka Papaw; aka Whiskers; aka Squint; aka Leprechaun; aka Doc Never is freedom of speech more precious than when a man hits his thumb with a hammer. Typical case of head up and locked. I was referring to the Russian AN-2.

Get that butt-ugly AN-2 out of the way, I want to see the beautiful
airplane! It's been a few years since I visited, but back in 2005 there were as many as seven An-2 for sale at Auburn Municipal Airport (S50) a little south of Seattle. They ranged from "kits" to airworthy at the time. Not sure if they are still there; I don't see them on Google Earth. Bob ^,,^ |

I'm not sure if you'd call these Anushka variants beautiful but they're certainly interesting. I've mislaid my notes on them so any details are welcome. The one with the Polish markings must be one of the few jet-engined biplanes ever tested. I seem to recall it was developed by PZL for crop spraying. |
