A unique weather pattern has set up, resulting in very strong S to SSE flow in the central and eastern Appalachians. A number of gliders operating out of Blairstown are attempting speed tasks. Bill Thar (BT) flying a Duckhawk is visible on the SSA Tracker site. He appears to be almost to his southern turnpoint (PA Turnpike tunnels). Check out the SSA tracker site to watch this and other flights: http://www.ssa.org/sailplanetracker/default.asp

BT's tracker went out just after the first turnpoint. Checked OLC later, he made it back.
Minden/Nampa flights today are not in gliders. Jim |
