Greetings,
Historically, older German gelcoat has failed pretty spectacularly going from a dry climate to a hot/humid gulf coast environment. On the other hand, Grob gelcoats seem to hold up much better in general. Many late 70's 102's still look pretty good. Does anyone have any experience with a "dry to wet" climate change with an older Grob (last 4-5 years)? I'm hoping that the Grob gelcoat is much more immune to climate changes. Thanks, Gary |

Thanks, Gary In '75, I bought a new 1-35 unpainted. I filled the wings and then covered them with light weight ceconite.(glued down) then painted it with Polyurethene. 30 years later it still looks like glass. I set a Calif distance record in it. It has been in the weather the whole time. My Grob and My DG505 has been painted with polyurethane. it is beautiful. Fred |
