No mention of the NTSB report. My suspicion is that the "pilot"
failed to gain sufficient airspeed to maintain flight. :-)

Sorry John but pointing to a story of the loss of the lives of five
young souls with what's essentially a flippant remark isn't comme il
faut.

True, but the story had no business being posted here in the first place.

5 dead after crash at "fly-in" community runway

Associated Press - January 26, 2008 6:24 PM ET

OCALA, Fla. (AP) - Florida Highway Patrol says five young men are dead today
after a car they were riding in crashed after traveling off an airport runway.

The runway is at the exclusive "fly-in" community of Jumbolair Aviation Estates.

The crash at the community, which is also the home of actor John Travolta,
happened at about 3:45 a.m.

According to a preliminary FHP investigation, a 2008 gray BMW with 5 occupants,
ages 18 to 20, was traveling at a high rate of speed on the airstrip.

The victims have been identified as 18-year-old Joshua D. Ammirato of Fairfield;
19-year-old Dustin J. Dawe also of Fairfield; 19-year-old James Devon Hime of
Anthony; and 19-year-old Jacob James Casey and 20-year-old Isaac Rubin, both of
Ocala.

4 of them were former students at North Marion High School. Casey graduated from
Trinity Catholic High School. He went on to play football for Jacksonville
University.
