![]() "SFM" wrote in message ... Gee I wonder if the pilot of AF1 in violation of the stadium and sports gathering NOTAM?? The notam does not apply to military, rescue, or police aircraft that are in the TFR on official business, nor does it apply to aircraft on approach or departing from an airfield. |

I promise, promise, promise there is no political agenda here. I just
think this is a great photo. Don't know how far the runway is from the stands, but the illusion is that the wings are practically over the race crowd. Michael I have posted a picture of Daytona from the air that I took on a trip from St.Augustine to Titusville. The picture shows quite clearly how close the track is to the runway. That is not the case. When we fly army helicopters we have to abide by all those TFRs aswell Of course, we all know how untrustworthy Army Aviation is. "G.R. Patterson III" wrote in message ... Michael http://makeashorterlink.com/?C43163D67 The picture looks foreshortened, I guess due to a zoom lens, making it look close to the crowd. While it is close, it's not *that* close! What I thought was really impressive was when AF-1 circled the track at a low altitude. I believe that may have been the first time I've ever seen a 747 do that. That thing is BIG. Gave me chills and made me strangely nervous at the same time. -Trent PP-ASEL |

![]() BTIZ wrote: Thanx... looks like the perfect airport neighbor.. a noisy track.. We have found that the combination works well at Old Bridge, NJ. Local residents tend to complain more about the drag strip than the airport. They're outnumbered by the race fans. What is your local NASCAR track? Just wondering... --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Where I buy my fuel, Thruxton airfield, is in the middle of a race
track. In fact, like a lot of race tracks in the UK, it grew out of an airfield perimeter track. The airfield is closed on race days, but at least it's been kept as an active airfield. I've flown a Bulldog and a Chipmunk from Daytona. Paul "BTIZ" wrote in message news:5jdYb.670$7k3.407@fed1read01... If the airport is that close to the race track, then I'm sure everyone had to be on a clearance and in ATC contact to land there during the race. Glad our local NASCAR track is far from the local airports |
