Hey Jeff ! How are things up that way? Been flying out at 47A still?
I'm down in Statesboro now... I flew up to visit Randall a few weeks
back. You get your IA rating?

Agreed. The current version of Apple's Quicktime distribution is a
prime example of invasive programming, a trend gaining momentum
despite public outcry.

Since I reinstalled Windows 2000 pro, my old 'puter has not hiccupped, even
one time. Before, disaster. Only difference in programs, were these two,
and IM.

I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties; I find WinXP able, agile, and
stable.

I know, many will say that does not have anything to do with it, but all the
same, I will have to miss anything that requires flash and QuickTime.

to install RealPlayer.

Win2000 is _finally_ stable once you get to SP6.

We have WinXP-Pro at work and it's still (three years old) unstable and bug
riddled.

Our DB server is an Old Dec-Alpha that still runs very well with Oracle
8.0.5.

Hey Scott! Everything's great. I just got my IFR rating a couple of weeks
ago with the Arrow at Randall's. A lot of work, but I feel a lot safer and
it sure will minimize the number of times I get weathered out.

Took a short hop last weekend down to La Grange on my first IFR trip. What a
blast. In and out of the clouds up and back for .4 actual.
You got my number, give me a call and we'll fly when you're up here next
time.

Boy, ain't THAT the truth.

At least weekly I get emails from people who can't view the aviation videos
on our website. In almost every case, it's a problem with RealPlayer.

I used to love that program, but their latest incarnations write themselves
into EVERY part of your operating system. Then, even when you select
another player to be your default player (either Quicktime or Windows Media
Player), RealPlayer won't "let go" of critical parts of your system.

This results in no "single-click" video playback without "cutting and
pasting" the URLs into either Quicktime or WMP -- which is something most
casual users don't even think to try. It's a real pain, and quite subtle,
as most people don't catch the relationship between what they have done by
selecting QT or WMP to be their default, after having once used RealPlayer
as their default player.

The insidious thing about the problem is that the settings all appear to be
correct -- Windows will SHOW Quicktime or WMP to be the default player, even
though something internal has clearly NOT switched over. The only "fix"
I've found is the total uninstallation of RealPlayer.

Really? Every instance of XP that I use, is rock solid stable. I bet you
have a conflict with XP and another program you use, or a driver for
something you have on the machine(s)

Get a different browser like "Opera" which will let you turn off the
animations. But giving up on QuickTime and Flash limits your enjoyment of
some useful and entertaining websites.

As a student pilot who works in the video production industry, it makes me
proud to be involved in both the medium and the subject.

Can't wait to see the finished cut. In HD no less! Would be perfect for
the new digital "projection" theatres.

Some of the most amazing images of flight since "To Fly" hit IMAX screens
several years back.
