Default 3V5 Ft. Collins Downtown potentially closing

I myself haven't used the airport much, but it sure was nice to do some
practice on the relatively small runway, at least compared to what I was
used to at KBJC and KFNL at the time. It's a nice little airport, and in the
summer, with taller buildings on either end of the runway, makes for some
interesting burbles in the wind.

Well, that's unfortunate. I always use 3V5 when I go to Fort Collins. It's
much more convenient than Fort Collins/Loveland (which is, in fact, much
closer to Loveland than to Fort Collins).

But obviously, as a privately owned airport, economics play an even greater
part in its survival. I wonder if the owner has considered converting to
public, and whether there's even any interest on the part of Fort Collins
for doing so.

There's always been plenty of activity at the airport when I've been there,
so if the local government doesn't believe it's a worthwhile resource, seems
likely that's more due to lack of information than to reality. Someone who
lives around there who is gung-ho about keeping the airport ought to get all
the data and start selling the airport harder.

Bad news...

I used to live under downwind to base. One of the coolest places I
ever got to live since I could watch airplanes out my picture window
whenever I was home.

Sad, I did all of my private instruction, and first solo at the Fort Collins/Downtown airport.

There is more to the store, the airport manager is basically an idiot and has been driving off
all of the tenants for the past 5 years or so. I personally know 3 people who moved their planes
from 3v5 to the Fort Collins/Loveland airport due to management practices at the airport.
