If anyone is back or has the laptop with them, how about some news. I
decided not to go this year, and do Oshkosh instead. Can't afford both. I can't find any online news reporting daily activiities. The Southern Aviator Sun 'n Fun edition isn't posted online, so all the editors must be at the show. Sure would be nice to be able to get all 7 days of that paper they do at SNF. Maybe the online Lakeland newspaper has some show news? Is attendance down even more this year? |

Great weather! (not too hot, not too cold)
At least 4 makers of TC'd "Piper Cubs" exhibiting. The air show is an endless litany of low-level aerobatics in Pitts derivitaves. (Boring after the 6th act) A few great and unusual flying warbirds: P-38, P-40, F4F, Sea Fury, Spitfire, Yak. The RV formation flyers have been practicing, and it shows. Dan's Best of Show Picks. F-86 in Korean Warpaint (super detailing) AT-11 (beautiful!) P-38 (Glacier Girl) Waco UPF-7 (now with fuel injected 275hp Jake) Maroon Taylorcraft BC-12D (Parked in Classic Camping area) |

Try the www.EAA.org web site. They have a little news about new LSA.

Low attendance and few spectators at Paradise City. The
weather was fantastic but the planes and people were just not there. The planes that are there looked great but prices are going up. I met a fellow that claimed to be the first PPC Sport Pilot and another that claimed to be the first fixed wing Sport Pilot. Doesn't matter to me if they are the first but it is good to see people are making the transition. Should be many more by this time next year and I plan on being one of them. My strategy is to wander out on the flight line until they herd everybody inside the fence the fence for the airshow, then I go see all of the exhibits while everybody else is outside watching the show. Vaughn At SNF, I wish they'd just cancel the airshow alltogether. Maybe have one on the weekend for the locals. And then, they wouldn't have to close the flight line like they do. They don't do that at OSH during the show. It used to be the best time to hit the exhibit buildings, but I think a lot more people have thought of that, as now they are crowded during the airshow too. |
