Default OLC Gen 2 Question

There is a login window now. Is it required by OLC
to create yet another login name and password? What's
the purpose for this?

I can't find any flights in the US. I tried, using
the drop down calendar, to go back to yesterday and
other days prior to today, but can't get anywhere.

Not only was I just navigating around in the new OLC,
I wanted to see if any flights had been posted from
the Region 4 North race.

It's frustrating that there is no information of the
race on the SSA webpage and it's frustrating that I
can't find any flight log on OLC. None in the US.

Am I just lost in the new Gen 2? If so, send a map!

Thanks,
Ray Lovinggood

Ray,

I'm lost with you, and I speak passable German! The new UI is
completely and utterly non-intuitive; I have no clue how to find the
US results. I'm sure it's something that will work itself out over
time, but right now it seems like we've confused flashier graphics with
usability. If anyone can find a quick way to get to the day's flights
for the US, please let me know.

I simply used the USA portal, Erik, and it gave me yesterday's flights:

Default OLC Gen 2 Question

Hi,

I think it is OK, but it will taking some getting used to. You can't see
dates before October 11th because that is the 1st day of the contest.

To get to the USA results:
- go to www.onlinecontest.org
- to view the web site in English - select the British flag (near the top
left of the screen)
- Click the "Gliding" tab
- Under the gliding tab is a row of menus. The left menu is has a drop
down arrow and is probably defaulted to "Worldwide". Open the list by
clicking on the down arrow and select "United States of America" from the
bottom of the menu - as long as it is not off the bottom of your screen...

Note: Everyone must re-register for 2007. To do that:
- If it is not already selected, select the "Gliding" tab.
- Click on "Anmeldung" (they need to update that to an English word) and a
menu will appear.
- Click on "Contest Registration"

To go back and view flights and results from 2006
- If it is not already selected, select the "Gliding" tab.
- Click on "Scoring" to open the scoring menu and select "OLC-2006".

Default OLC Gen 2 Question

Thanks Paul!

I had previously managed to navigate to the page you
describe here, but didn't know about the button to
take me back to the OLC 2006 flights. Since I was
in the new webpage and had the October calendar selected,
I was expecting it to allow me to go back to Monday,
9 OCT 06, even though that was in OLC 2006. I wanted
to see what a flight would look like on the new page.

Hurry up and wait!

Thanks,
Ray

Interesting. When I tried that last night, no luck. Seems to be
working fine today.

I presume it will be used so you can edit your flights, but this
function is not implemented yet. Only the OLC-i admin can make changes
for now (until the platform is stable). You can create a user ID if you
wish, but it is not necessary yet.

Today is the first day of OLC 2007, so no US flights have been
completed yet. Check back later.

Check the OLC 2006 for Monday's flights.

It may be a little harder at first to adapt to the change, but the new
interface is really a big improvement. There are some English
translations that need to be done, so don't be scared off by the
ocasional German words.

Default OLC Gen 2 Question

Thanks, Doug.

With the info from Paul, I was able to find the R4N
flights.

And, I'm not scared off by some German words. Heck,
I got fairly dangerous with my 'GI German' when I was
stationed in Germany at Sembach Air Base. Enjoyed
the people, their food, their beer, and of course,
their gliders. I learned a couple of proper German
terms that pertain to soaring such as 'Lepo' and 'LS-Blei'.
And, of course, 'Bitte ein Bit!'

When were you stationed at Sembach? I was there in the early 80´s.

Default OLC Gen 2 Question

Bob,

I've sent you a private e-mail as it seems my answer
has nothing to do with OLC. But, in my e-mail, in
case you don't get it, I stated I was stationed at
Semback from late March 1983 through early April 1986.
The dollar hit 3.47:1 against the Mark and oh, I wish
I had the balls to have gone deep into debt to buy
a new LS-4!!!! I still whimper when I consider the
cost of a new LS-4 back then, in US dollars.
