now that's the first explanation on the subject that makes
sense... wicked.

Yetm she still had to purchase fuel; fuel pumps take either
credit cards if you self-serve, and that's a no no in this
case; or you have to interact with a human being if you want
to pay cash... and don't self-serve fuel pump have security
cameras anyway?

900 miles, she had to get more fuel at least once midway, unless she
packed some cans in the trunk.

although it shouldn't be too complicated to install a 'ferry tank'
in a car; could be discreet enough in the trunk, with a remote
activated pump to refill the main tank once in a while; wouldn't
even have to stop.

Many pumps now accept bills for payment. A little slot that takes
sucks in 1s, 5s, 10s, and 20s.
