Ya know, the cupidity of many people never ceases to amaze me..
The media is now touting UFO sightings and pilots who want the sightings of 30 years ago to be reopened to investigation... In no particular order: 1. It was 30 years ago and what they have to investigate is the already known, and well chewed on, testimony of those who saw something... Well golly, we should throw 3 or 4 billion dollars into this investigation as it surely solve the mystery... jeez louise 2. If someone/something is technologically capable of crossing dozens to hundreds or even thousands of light years of space, fly into our atmosphere, blind our radars, jam the weapons systems of jets trying to fire on them, land, take off and go back into space without making any particular noise or leaving exhaust smoke; why a well financed investigating committee will be able to corner them and make em 'fess up' in no time at all! denny |

Hardly makes them extraterrestrial. Before Hollywood in the mid-40's started making horror movies involving aliens, there was no reports of UFO's, abductions etc. There were reports of witches and ghosts etc. This is just another rebirth of old human fears and fallibility's with ET in place of the supernatural. If more people would believe in science instead of the tooth fairy we would have a lot less stupid people on Earth. ------------------------------------- DW |

If more people would believe in science instead of the tooth fairy we would have a lot less stupid people on Earth. ------------------------------------- DW The problem with the UFO scenario is that the proponents are armed with the ultimate kicker that favors their "theories"; that being the fact that if one considers all known science, then factors in the unknown possibilities, no one can actually deny with complete certainty that alien life doesn't exist. It's sort of like believing in God. You can't really explain it, but it IS possible. Whether or not you believe it is a personal choice, so we have believers and we have atheists. What makes the UFO thing unbelievable for those of us who actually enjoy deductive reasoning that is :-) is simply the aspect of the issue that postulates the theory that if there is indeed alien life out there and it has the brain power to reach earth with these super duper ultra hyperduper ships of theirs, one at least has to consider why these alien superfolk always manage, with the cream of the earth's scientific minds to choose from, to scoop up Homer and Jethro while they are walking on a back country road at 4 in the morning so they can relate their "experiences" on the all night AM radio show :-)) -- Dudley Henriques |

The UFO sightings started about the same time we started testing advanced aircraft. The USAF and the CIA were more than happy to use UFOs as a cover for the testing. |

Even worse if they picked up Anthony. The thing tha pretty much proves it for me is I remember reading years ago an explanation of why, if there were so many sightings, there weren't more photos of UFOs. The argument was "there are lots of airplane accidents, and you don't see many pictures of those, yet we know thye happen" Well, with the explosion in digital cameras and what not there are, in fact, lots and lots of pics of airplane accidents, yet no credible pics of UFOs. Was just watching something about them this morning in fact, and the dufus witness accounts would put anyone off as well. Bertie |

A few years ago I had the privilege of working with a guy that was an Air Force fighter pilot during the start of the UFO frenzy. I asked him if, during all his flying, he had ever seen anything that looked like a UFO. He said, "Jim, back then we were either so drunk or so hungover, we couldn't tell a UFO if it hit us" |
