To make a long story short one F-4 had just launched off cat 1 the one
on fire went off Cat 2 and the air boss did not say which cat, so we
lost two that day.

That is one hell of a story! It deserves more than five lines,
if you are feeling up to typing it.

1972 or 3 I'm guessing

Everyone fished out OK?

Some ejects can screw a body up... did the riders
get back on the horse after that?

Whose record did THAT go on (realizing some bosses might
have a relative in Congress)?

Lot of good hardware lost to Davey Jones!

Following up my own post (with add'l info regarding Davey Jones)

Yes, I've seen the films of birds being dumped over the sides
of ACC's and other ships after WWII ended. I seem to recall
some shiny, new looking P-38's going swimming (sniff-sniff,
a tear rolls down my cheek).
