------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's pity there's not more of the plane showing, because it's bugging me what it is. I *think* it's an Armstrong-Whitworth Albemarle, possibly of 295 Squadron. The problem with that is that 295 had the squadron code 8Z, so if this is a 295 Squadron Albemarle, I'd expect it to carry the code 8Z-? or ?-8Z, not 8-Z? as shown here. A little research shows that the Albemarle V1740 8Z-A of 295 Squadron led the British parachute assault on D-Day, with the commander of 38 Group as co-pilot - so that aircraft would be particularly worthy of photographing at the time. -- Dave not-me should be djw001 and there's no need for any wossname |
