In all other cases, the mechanic must hold an airframe mechanic certificate with Inspection Authorization (IA), however no Powerplant rating is needed. Mike |

If the glider has an engine the mechanic would also need the Powerplant rating. As you know if it is an "Amateur Built" i.e. homebuilt glider, the builder may qualify for a certificate that allows the bulider to perform the Condition Inspection. This is the mis-named Repairman's Certificate. An Inspection Authorization, which is a seperate certificate from the A&P, is needed only when conducting a Annual Inspection for a Type Certificated aircraft, i.e. SGS-2-33 etc. Robert J.
