Does anyone have a soft copy of the Technical Service Manual for a
Junior that they could send to me? Our club can't locate one and we need the procedure for the weight and balance. Specifically, we need to know how high to raise the tail when weighing the glider. Thanks! --Jonathan |

I need to double check, but I believe the level datum for the Junior is trailing edge level with the middle of the leading edge.
I'll try to find the official reference. |

From the Canadian Type Certificate Data Sheet:
"The glider, when weighing for definition of c.g. location and mass value, shall be attituded so, that the wing root-chord /wing chord in wing-to-fuselage plane is level." Paragraph 21 on page 5 of the TCDS that you can download by clicking on the VIEW PDF Icon on this page: Tiny URL: http://tinyurl.com/dx7z5hr Original URL: http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/saf-sec-sur/...bid_n um=1027 |

What this means, quoted from the tech manual
"The supports should be located under the main and tail wheels. The difference of height should be adjusted so that the trailing edge of wing root rib and the wing leading edge (leveling mark) are on the same level." Jonathan got a soft copy of the tech manual today and posted it on his club website flybasa.org |

How do you level an imaginary line that goes through the wing? As usual someone forgot to make the engineers actual perform the procedure.

The engineer was holding a simple tube for a water level.

Kind of like checking the aileron deflections on an SH1 with that imaginary point floating aft of the TE of the aileron :P

Thanks to Flubber's Son we got the information that we needed. We're
going to weigh our Junior this morning. --Jonathan On 4/5/2013 6:49 PM, son_of_flubber wrote: What this means, quoted from the tech manual "The supports should be located under the main and tail wheels.
