Engine up. When will we learn?


Perhaps, but I know of one case where the turbo in a Discus BT erected itself in a severe frontal impact that destroyed the cockpit (a winch launch cartwheel)

Pretty sobering how severe the destruction of the fwd fuselage is. Best wishes to the pilot for a full recovery.

Learn what?

That the increase in workload associated with deploying a turbo causes
accidents (bad accidents) when the pilot is also trying to conduct the
flight or circuit at low level.

I am sorry, it was a somewhat over-reaction spurred on by my dislike of
turbos. I think they are dangerous because of the poor operating design of
most. Glider workshops are full of them.

I too hope the pilot recovers well.
