How fast did they fly home? Also, how thick is the skin on a combat
aircraft compared to a civilian airliner?

I'll buy that the aircraft could stay together. The Mythbusters
simulation wasn't very comprehensive... But, then again, I know just
enough about high-speed aerodynamics to be afraid! :-)
