I have never been turned down, did not try it because I knew I would be. But
my condition has no effect in the low altitudes and short durations of the sport class..so I am good to go! hee hee "BTIZ" wrote in message news:Z8L1d.90356$yh.74766@fed1read05... "W P Dixon" wrote in message ... Well I beg to differ, since alot of trained pilots are no longer eligible to fly per the FAA due to medical reasons...I hope the SP rule will end up helping them as well should they chose to fly again. WP, be careful how you "read the regs"... if you were "denied" an FAA Medical, you do not automatically qualify for Sport Pilot... i.e, you applied for a 1st, 2nd or 3rd class medical and was denied by FAAOKC or any designated Aviation Medical Examiner who sent the paper work to OKC. If you allowed a medical to expire, and did not apply for renewal, because you knew you could not pass a medical, then you may be entitled to exercise the sport pilot option with a "light sport aircraft". There is a paragraph in the Sport Pilot regulations that states that those that have been denied a medical do not qualify. The "key" is, "does the FAA have a denied medical application on file". Hope it all works out so you can fly.. BT |
