What makes this necessary for RC planes` Li batteries? I don`t recharge my digital camcorder or digital camera in the shed to avoid explosions! Or should I start doing that?! Tien Many times the modeler is using faster charge rates than the low-amperage "wall-warts" which come with camcorders, etc. The risk of the battery swelling, leaking, heating or exploding increases along with the charging amperage. There is also the occasional case where someone uses a ni-cad charger for Lithium/Ion or Lithium/Poly cells, or misadjusts a multi-mode charger. There have been enough incidents now that most flying fields require that battery charging be done waaaay over there! Rich S. |
