If you want it done right, I recommend engraving.
Our laminated paper fades (especially in the sun).
If it is punched or engraved, it won't disappear
after a few months/years.

If I owned a glider that I was going to do mods
on every year, I'd get a couple of these printed at a time,
and get a punch set for the numbers. Then just
pop 'em on when needed.

The local locksmith has done lettering and
number punching on some items for me in the past,
when they didn't have to look to nice...
