You're right. It definitely isn't stalled. And it doesn't like that
technique. T o d d P a t t i s t wrote: And I suspect the wings would not be stalled even with the tailwheel touching first as you describe. Usually what happens is the tail touches before stall, which rotates the nose down, decreasing wing lift and forcing the touchdown. If you want to get closer to a true stall at landing, you'd probably want to come in about a foot or two higher and really get the nose up before touching the tail. Of course your Maule probably wouldn't be so happy with that technique :-) (first handbook issued with the Curtis-Wright flyer) |
