Even by the BMI standards (which I feel set inappropriately low standards for taller people), that would be a surprising number of people. In any case, 18 year-olds are not fully grown men (or women). Many still have a fair amount of "filling out" to do, with respect to adding muscle mass (and a little fat, or a lot if they aren't eating right and exercising). I was 40 pounds lighter when I was 18 than I am now. Only about half of that is weight I consider "extra". Pete |
