Can we cut a wire VHF-Air antenna that we already own to work with a marine band (higher than VHF-Air) handheld? Yes, but given its proximity to the ground, it's impossible to really tune it correctly. (Hang the aircraft 8 ft up from a crane while looking at the VSWR? No wait! Just flip the bird on its back and....) You'll end up taking a best-guess & living with it... Can we have a local avionics tech simply add a BNC to the right side of the panel to use with the handheld and a BNC-BNC patch cord? Legalities aside, this is trivial. I'll let others fight over the paper issues. You also will want some way to power it, and others have mentioned the headset/noise issues. -- A host is a host from coast to & no one will talk to a host that's close........[v].(301) 56-LINUX Unless the host (that isn't close).........................pob 1433 is busy, hung or dead....................................20915-1433 |
