That's what I'm wondering, too. I flew many an hour with Dick when he worked for my airline, and I can't see him simply not following the MAP; it just doesn't make sense. (Of course, isn't that usually the way with accidents?) I'm sure something else was diverting their attention, but who knows... He'll be missed; he was a lot of fun to fly with. We need to learn what intervention, if any, on the part of ATC. Perhaps a vector?
