The bandwidth is just barely enough to it to barely work at all - which means designing a brand new system that will be virtually obsolete (or at least have major problems) as soon as it is deployed. The VHF channels have much better bandwidth capability, easily exanded to not only handle TIS-B, but also all the nice things that *should* come with ADS-B such as real-time weather overlays. But then, the FAA hasn't called to ask my opinion in a while... G |
