But I believe the larger percentage of GA pilots are not IR. And the while IR pilots have *more* flexibility, in most cases, it is still not as reliable as commercial or ground transportation. If your purpose for flying is as a reliable mode of transportation, wouldn't you do what is necessary to ensure it as such? Would you stay with a learner's permit and complain that you can't drive at night or on highways?
