I don't disagree that one should land in as controlled a manner as possible, with as little forward AND as little vertical speed as possible, with vertical speed having the priority. I'm just pointing out that 9Gs is pretty survivable no matter which direction you're going. And for the record, as long as the deceleration is given at 9Gs, it doesn't matter whether you hit something hard or something soft. The impact is the same. Pete |
