El Dorado Arkansas got some incredible news yesterday. So if you have kids
in school you might want to think about moving here.

That is a fantastic guesture from a private company. but one has to wonder
why a country so wealthy needs to rely on private generosity to educate its
young. When I went to Uni 25 years ago here in Oz it was free to all. Later
govts have since made it a pay later system ( you pay extra income tax only
when you have a job above x$ year unitl you pay back the fees that
represent about 20% of the real cost).Current govt is doing their damdest to
bring back pay before you go fees. Going backwards in my opinion. Of course
one big difference here as that pretty much all Universities are govt
owned.

Could it be that the current system in the US has created the greatest
university system in the world and people from all over the world come
here to learn? There are a tremendous amount of scholarships available
and if your smart enough your not likely to be unable to go to college.
Any one can go to school here, not just those who are ranked highly
on standard tests. You may not be able to attend Harvard but you can go
to school somewhere. Is this true in OZ?
