I attended a presentation by a pilot who ferried a PA28 from the US to
South Africa back in the '80's. At the time, there were the usual civil
wars across Africa. He was unfortunate enough to get shot down over
Angola and spent some time in a rebel military prison. Some of his
fellow inmates were mercenaries. The most interesting part of his talk
was about food aversions. It seems the only things to eat where those
that you could catch. Rats were plentiful, but one fellow just could not
bring himself to eat them.
