Default Pix of Wright Bros Memorial, Ocracoke Island, more...

On one of my first European business trips just out of college, I took a
roll of pictures to impress my wife with my worldly travels. When it was
developed, it was a series of some beautiful woman in front of the typical
tourists stops. Distant. Up Close. Sensuous. Gazing to the horizon. etc.

That's good photography.

I used to take dozens of pictures of airplanes at Oshkosh. In fact,
I've got 24 years of photo albums from OSH, and the first 8 are
nothing but airplanes, and (once in a while) Mary. Or Chuck
Yeager... ;-)

They are incredibly boring, and we haven't looked at them in years. I
eventually learned that pictures have to have people in them, or some
sort of perceived motion. A plane going past with afterburner flames
is good, people or not. But a plane parked alone on the ramp, unless
the lighting is perfect or unique, isn't.

Unless you plant your kids in front of it. Then it becomes part of
the family, and a worthy picture -- even if they're not smiling.
