Indeed the seeds of such an aircraft already exist in the abortive Sonic Cruiser and 7E7. Some people believe the driving force behind the 767 deal is that it allows Boeing to keep the 767 line running for those few operators who might one them. If so, it sounds like a good deal for Boeing, and one that may not drive them to looking at other options. -- John |
