Default LCD Display Readability

Color, grey-scale or black & white?

My Garmin 195 is easy to read in shadow or bright light without
backlighting during daylight. At night I have the backlight set to
remain on for 30 seconds after the light button is depressed.

I did notice that the new sunglasses I acquired last spring make the
screen too dark to view without removing the sunglasses.

What make/model and type of screen do you use and what affects its
"viewability"?
