![]() "Jan Gelbrich" wrote: Hi ! I just saw a picture of a C-130 Hercules on the deck of a Carrier !! The picture seems to be from around the 70s, no other planes else on deck. No other description was provided, it was on an image board ... Is this a nice fake or was this ever possible ? ThanX in advance, Jan It actually happened-USS Forrestal (CV-59) was the carrier involved. The idea was to test the feasiblity of using a C-130 as a COD aircraft. Landings were made without arrester hook, and takeoffs were completely unassisted, although there may have been a JATO launch as part of the tests. While feasible, the idea was dropped.
