Bob: I fly a Safari helicopter which looks a lot like the Bell 47. I did
my helo dual in a Bell 47 D-1. The Safari is much simpler. Just the rod end count is much less, there are no hydraulics and the Safari is capable of higher cruise speeds. The Safari is just one of several two seat helicopters that can outperform a Bell for both speed and cost of purchase and operation. -- Stuart & Kathryn Fields, Publishers Experimental Helo magazine P. On Aug 27, 7:37 am, "Gig 601XL Builder" Bell 47 rule? Paraphrased, there is no cheaper/more economical/more efficient way of achieving vertical takeoff and landing than with a Bell 47 helicopter. If a proposed rotorcraft or VTOL aircraft is simpler and/or less expensive than a Bell 47, either the price is unrealistic or the aircraft will not fly as promised. Bob K. |
