How many flight instructors like their job? How many are just impatiently
trying to build hours so that they can work as airline pilots one day?

The current arrangement has always bothered me, since it seems to ensure that
the people teaching new pilots are always people without an interest in
teaching, who are just passing through a revolving door.

Another couple of thousand feet and a headset he would have flying cool,
calm, and quiet.

Maybe that wasn't practical at the time.
