Santa brought me a Power Flarm. I powered it up, converted my ICAO
address from 51201552 to HEX A5036A, Got a GPS lock-on after going

Some *questions:
I have been running my trusty old Model 20 and a Garmin 100 driving
the SN-10, with the addition of Power Flarm, I now have 3 GPS's and 3
data-loggers. Question; Can the GPS signal from the Power Flarm be
used to drive the SN-10? If so, what is the wiring? Also, how do I up-
load and down-loan info into the Power Flarm? The manual doesn't get
around to discussing any of the above. My thought was to eliminate the
Garmin 100 and still have 2 Gps's and 3 data-loggers and save a few
mili-amps, which brings me to my last question; How much current does
this puppy draw?

I hooked an ampmeter in the + line and read 160 m/a with the Flarm
tracking 5 satellites and showing a mode S equipped airliner (green
circle at 6 miles and 99 altitude). I was also told it wasn't
necessary to set the ICAO address unless my ship is equipped with a
mode S transponder, so forget that. As I understand it, I should
connect the RJ-45 plug as follow:

#3 Serial input (white-green #3) .........to the SN-10 panel Cable pin
#2
#4 NMEA output (blue) .........to the SN-10 panel cable pin #9

I am powering the Flarm from ships power and only sending GPS data to
the SN-10. I plan to use the Garmin only as a backup which can be
switched on, when necessary, after turning off the power Flarm (if it
looses satellite lock).
Thanks for the help, the Power Flarm looks like a good addition to my
panel
