A bit more info: The shot was taken on a road trip to the Grand Canyon. It
was so impressive a cap cloud that I pulled off the road to get the picture. Notice the lennies to the east (left) of the mountain. I haven't heard about gliding around Flagstaff, but, from the roads, it looks like it could be quite good. Flying north would quickly get you over the Grand Canyon with easy access to Cedar Breaks, Parowan, and points north. I attempted that once on a soaring safari with a ground launch at Holbrook, AZ. The plan was to fly west to Flagstaff, then north to Heber City, UT, and back to Parowan. A front stopped me over the Meteor Crater and I was unable to proceed any further. After three attempts to penetrate the front, I retreated to Winslow, AZ (where I stood on the corner). "Brad Alston" wrote in message ... Worked for me Dan! Fascinating view on an interesting cap!
