The should have been 46,000 MORE, for a total of 79,000 aircraft. Tom One can easily expect that the installations will accelerate and explode as the deadline gets closer. No, it won't - there are a limited number of shops in the US capable of installing ADS-B (340) and some aircraft take an incredible amount of labor (160 hours). The installation rate has been very steady over the last 3 years. And even if there were an increase there will still be a huge group (over half) of aircraft w/o ADS-B come 1/1/2020. Why do you think that the FAA offered a $500 incentive to install it? Tom |
