Internet access at Oshkosh?

Last year, I was able to plug the laptop into the network at the dorms
at Marrion College. Worked like a charm. Of course, staying at Marrion
without a car all week was a drag since round trip on the shuttle was
$20. Oh well, live and learn.

Some sort of wireless access would be nice but I doubt I'd haul my
laptop anywhere around the field.

and if i remember correctly, UW-OSH dorms have internet access.
Lawrence (in Appleton) claimed to also, but I could never find it.

Personally, I really don't want to drag more stuff around.

Well, I'll have the lapdog with me anyway because I need to unload my
pictures every night, and my iPod is too old to use that Belkin device
that allows you to unload a CF card to the iPod. So while I've got it, I
might as well get some use out of it.

Well, I'll have the lapdog with me anyway because I need to unload my
pictures every night

We used to drag our laptop to OSH, until we found a service on the field
(run by the aerobatic or classics guys -- I forget now, although I could
walk your right to their building) that will transfer your pictures onto a
CD-ROM for a nominal donation -- I think it was five bucks -- to their
cause.

It saves the hassle (and worry) of packing a laptop, *and* it helps a group
of pilots support their addiction.

Of course, san disks are so cheap now, I suppose I could just buy another
hand full of them...

512MB SD card in the new camera...oh ya baby...holds 840+ pictures at
2nd to best resolution. No need to download to the laptop. But...I'd
probably still download to the laptop as a) until I can burn pics. to a
CD, having another copy is nice and b) the laptop goes along with me
anyway for the evening/morning weather briefs wherever we end up for the
night on the way to/from OSH.

Santa brought me a new camera after my old one finally broke, and the rest
of the family was overjoyed at having something specific to buy, so they
bought memory cards. My biggest is 1 gig. No way could I ever fill all of
my cards, now! (that is a good thing, I think )

Last year a guy outside the N40 showers showed me his PalmPilot looking
thing (might have been an HP or a Sony.) Anyway, he found a hotspot. He
figured the WiFi signal was from EAA, not one of the homes on the south side
of 9/27.

10pm we were surfing with the stylus, next to the showers at OSH.

compound?
