Not so long ago, there was a GA tiedowns and quad hangars in the
back corner. I think it was a runway expansion that was the excuse
took them out, but it was driven by local politics. I'd guess the
Jet Center will be homeless as well; isn't it based in the old
bomber/tank plant?

[CLE is in Cleveland, but the abutting circa 1941 Fisher bomber plant
{locally called "The Tank Plant" as later it made...} was in Brookpark.
The two cities fought over that land for 3+ decades. Cleveland claimed
they needed it for expansion, but after it became the "IX Center"
and started competing with the downtown Convention Center, it got
even more vicious. Last I heard, they had settled with Cleveland
getting the plant and Brookpark getting NASA. But now Cleveland
somewhat realizes an airport expansion is not in the cards, and with
NASA-LeRC cutting back, there goes Brookpark's payroll tax income....]

Republic is probably the best option because of the multiple FBO's and its
proximity to JFK. You can take a cab ride to JFK or a cab ride to the Long
Island Railroad (5 mins from FRG) and take the AirTrain from Jamaica
station. For $5 the AirTrain will take you directly to your terminal. LIRR
will run you about $10 each. Depending on how much luggage you have, you may
want to pay for a cab/car service.

As for FBOs, Long Island Jet Center (631-843-9488) is probably cheaper than
Atlantic Aviation (631-752-9022) for parking fees but call both to compare.
Both may be able to courtesy-car you to the train station if you choose that
mode.

Thanks Marco ( and all) for the replys. Considering cost, I have
decided to go comercial. Parking the plane for 2 weeks costs $200 to
$350 depending on where with the less expensive (HPN) requiring a $135
ride to JFK. Guess this midwestern hick just didn't remember the NY$$$
area that well. My hanger at I64 only costs $100 per MONTH. So maybe
I'll fly to RMY for a MI hamburger.

There is a less expensive option from HPN to JFK by taking the train
from White Plains and then using Subway and Bus to JFK. Probably less
than $20.

Ugh. Taxi to downtown White Plains, Metro North to Grand Central Station,
7 train out to Queens somewhere, transfer to the E to Jamaica, then the JFK
monorail. I count 4 transfers, and it'll probably take you about 2-1/2
hours by the time you're done.

Let's face it, public transport to and from NYC airports sucks eggs. I
used to fly to London a couple times a year on business. From the terminal
in Heathrow, it's underground moving walkway to the metro station, then
about 55 minutes (and something like 4 pounds) got me right to my hotel in
Kensington. Or, I could have opted for the express train which would get
me into the central city in about half the time (about 15 pounds, IIRC) on
a more comfortable seat.

In New York, it took them eons to build the new JFK rail link, and it
doesn't even frigging go anywhere.
