As a I recall, we tried to "find" each other after departing Iowa City,
and that proved quite difficult. (Although the rest of us did catch
sight of each other -- we just couldn't spot that pretty blue 182 against
the sky, I guess? )

Smoke? :-)

All I know Jay is that this year, I'm following you guys once we're
outside of Ripon. Seems like whenever I lead the way, we get separated
in the gaggle around the lake then wind up camping far apart. I have
yet to camp next to MontBlack's PMC and I aim to fix that! :-)

Hey MontBlack, speaking of PMC...since 2.0 never made it out of the
designer's head last year, what are the plans for unveiling the new
version this year?

May 19th and 20th is Blaine Aviation Weekend (B.A.W.)

PMC 2.007 will get considered after that.

I'll be parking cars in the grassy area, on the "south end," by the
cloverleaf freeway exit. It's a much bigger area than it looks like in the
photo. The Fly-In planes will be parked on the "south end" ramp, where I'll
also be wandering around, checking on the (soda)pop crew.

Yeah, I can understand the concerns of your co-conspirator Jim. Perhaps
flying at different altitudes until we're in visual contact. Also,
since we'd both be talking to ATC, maybe give them a heads-up that we're
looking for each other. Or...the Allison boys leave even earlier and
hop up the hill to KGOO (I still can't get over that identifier :-) )
and launch with you guys. We'll figure something out.

You could always do what my buddy in the Army national guard does to
their helicopters...paint portions of the airframe with bright
fluorescent colors :-)

Speaking of co-conspirators, Jack -- you and Steve bringing the wives

Negative on my co-conspirator this year. The jury is still out on
Steve's.

As most of you know, after a fairly long 33 year attendance record at The

Montblack got my dorm reservations and I just flat forgot to re-register for
this year. Even at this late date, we could probably get into the UW-O
dorms, but I'm just interested in what else is out there.

1. Camping is out. That was part of the deal. Don't even suggest it.

2. I've looked at the various residences for rent, but the problem is that
you have absolutely no idea if they are the Taj Mahal of Oshkosh or Roach
Heaven.

3. I've also looked at a couple of the other colleges with dorms and they
are sort of pricey for what you get. UW-O ain't cheap, but it seems that
the other ones are further away, you get about the same features, but for
more money.

4. I was thinking of looking at the motels that seem to line Lake Winnebago
pretty much all along the western shore. If anybody has first hand
knowledge of a good one fairly reasonable, would you pass it along?

5. Anybody else with first hand knowledge of something else that might
work, I'd appreciate knowing about it.

Jim

Hey Jim ! !

I got an offer you might find palatable ! ! I have a cottage ON
LAKE WINNEBAGO ! ! It's only 13 miles from OSH ! !

Now the bad news, . . .13 miles DUE EAST ! ! Actually, . .that's
not such bad news. Down to Fond Du Lac, and back up the other side.
You can make it in about 35 - 40 mins.

Cottage has 3 - 4 bedrooms, AIR CONDITIONING, full kitchen / bath
and even a sailboat ! ! 26 ' Nice beach for wading or swimming.
Got color tv radio . .magazines, . .garbage disposal,. .
bicycles, . . .walking trails nearby, . ( in case you haven't had
enough at the show ).

An . .shucks, . .since we're such good buddies, . .I could let you
have it for . . hmmmmmmm . . say . .$ 50.00 a night ?

You can even see the airshow from my dock !! Especially when they
have "smoke - on" .

Might not be the Taj Mahal, . .but it's very nice !

If you're even remotely interested, . .I can send you some pics.

Shoot me an email at .

John Poppy at Portage, WI has in the past set up a bus to
run from the local motel... just a little further out than
Ripon. I usually stop at Portage for fuel and a meal when
Oshkosh ATIS says the airport is closed. :-)

Camping on the Field, motels nearby.
